Who we are

It all started when…

Mrs. Salome Gatune recognized a need in her neighborhood. In her community most orphans, abandoned and destitute children do not have a place to call home. They end up in the harsh streets leading a life with no promise of tomorrow. This reality led Mrs. Salome Gatune to establish a refuge where these children would have abundant love, care and protection.

Spirit of Mercy Children’s Home was founded on May 7th 2007. Since then we have inspired growth and development to over 250 children. We currently have 31 children in our care (18 boys and 13 girls) ages ranging from 5 to 17 years old. To support running Spirit of Mercy children’s home we have; a volunteer board, well-wishers, and staff members. We are located in Kahawa-West, Nairobi Kenya.

We are a registered Community Based Organization under the Ministry of East Africa Community, Labour and Social Protection Department of Social Development (Certificate No. 49171).
